Musiq Soulchild Creates Alter Ego Named Purple

On the heels of releasing his first book, 143 - Love According to Musiq, Musiq Soulchild took to Twitter this morning to announce the debut of his musical alter ego. "I introduce to you the first amongst many, my alter ego Purple. An artist's success is determined by the people's support. I'll keep giving yall great music as long as yall support," he tweeted. From Prince to Erykah Badu to Beyoncé and even Mary J. Blige, many artists have successfully taken the alter ego route to surpass genre boundaries. Since the year 2000 Musiq has been steadily pouring out quality soul music and although it is yet uncertain what genre Musiq's "Purple" material will fit into, we can only hope that it will measure up to the level of his GRAMMY-nominated hits like "Halfcrazy," "Forthenight" and "SoBeautiful." Word is that he will debut this Purple character in Atlanta tomorrow night at actress Terri J. Vaughn's The Green Room. If any ATL Bouncers are in the house for that gig, make sure to report back and tell us all about it.
