'Take A Chance' On Antonique Smith

This is a milestone post for me, seeing as it is my 400th post for SoulBounce (a feat considering that my own blogs seem to peter out around post 50). It's fitting, then, that the topic of this post returns me to one of the first people that I wrote about on the site: Antonique Smith. When I first wrote about her, it was because she blew me away with her honest and endearing cover of Adele's "Someone Like You." Since then she's dropped her single "Speechless" and launched a Kickstarter campaign to make her album a reality. Now we have some new-new from Antonique in the form of "Take a Chance." The song is a laid-back groove reminiscent of a few '90's pop/R&B jams (she's actually giving me a bit of a Des'ree meets Natalie Imbruglia feel here). On it, she asks a suitor to take a chance on their love though she might be a bit unconventional. The best part of the song, though, is that Antonique is showing us a different side than she did on "Speechless" -- which was good, but didn't move me as much as this does. With only four days left, Antonique's Kickstarter campaign still needs quite a bit to make her $50,000 goal. Hopefully after taking a listen to this one, you'll take your chance and head over there to help make Speechless the album a reality.
