Daley Reveals Plans For A New Mixtape & His Dream Duet Partner

Earlier this week I had the opportunity to conduct a Twitterview with the UK soul man of the moment Daley. We had a few technical difficulties so we were unable to ask him everything that we wanted to (especially about his styling routine for his gravity-defying hair), but the answers to two questions in particular definitely caught our attention.

When asked about what his journey has been like thus far from the massive success of his Those Who Wait mixtape to his major label debut with the Alone Together EP, Daley shared "that [it has] been a very interesting one, had some amazing experiences and opportunities. Ready for the next phase..." Of course we had to find out what that "next phase" consisted of and that's when he told us that there's a lot to look forward to in 2013, including "more music, mixtapes, the album, singles, videos, [and] US tours..." More mixtapes? You don't say. Well, that's precisely what Daley said, and he went on to assure us that he plans "to release one early next year." How early we don't know yet, but if it's anything like Those Who Wait, then we're beyond excited at the prospect.

In addition to that bit of good news, we briefly chatted about his collaborations with the talented likes of Marsha Ambrosius and Jessie J, Daley calling them "two artists I have a lot of respect for." It was his answer to the next question about who he would like to do a dream duet with that really made us take note and cross our fingers. At that point, Daley revealed, "I would love to work on something with Chaka Khan... one of my favourite vocalists of all time!" After we picked ourselves up off of the floor at the mere thought of a Daley and Chaka Khan record, we agreed that someone needed to make that happen ASAPtually. Chaka, are you listening? Because if/when a Daley and Chaka Khan duet happens, then we'd most definitely be tuned in and preparing to be turned out.

The new year sounds like it's going to be a good one for Daley, and we can't to hear all of the musical surprises he has in store -- and we're hoping that his Chaka Khan wish gets fulfilled.
