On cold Midwestern days like today, I find solace in the fact that in
a few several months I'll be able to roam the streets freely without fear of frostbite. Recreational bike rides, outdoor seating and music festivals will be a common occurrences once June rolls around this year, but for now its straight hibernation (for me at least). Well The Roots crew couldn't have picked a better time than now to remind us that summer is right around the corner with the announcement of the talent lineup for the 6th Annual Roots Picnic. The festival, which is headlined by its namesake, offers performances by indie acts Sonnymoon and How to Dress Well, new school hip-hop acts Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and Joey Bada$$ and hip-hop veterans Naughty by Nature and DJ Premier, to name a few. Previous Picnics have been described as historic, and we wouldn't expect any less from this year's festivities given the lineup. Tickets go on sale this Friday, January 25th at 10 am EST, which gives both you and I plenty of time to book our flights to Philly for the June 1st event at Festival Pier at Penn's Landing. Peep the roster of artists on the super cool poster, and stay warm in the meantime.
