Choklate is hands down one of my favorite indie songstresses so I'm always pleased to hear some new music from her, whether it be solo or in collaboartion with someone else. Last year's Fly EP will tide me over until her next full album, but this collaboration with MC/producer Sax G definitely deserves a spin or two. Sax belongs to Seattle's Cloud Nice crew and is gearing up to release his latest album, Tu Me Manques, next week. The first single to be lifted from the project, "Gotta Get Down," is a chilled-out, atmospheric slice of soul music with a strong hip-hop vibe. It's beautifully sung by Choklate, and Sax G definitely holds it down on the production front. Stylistically, the track is a bit of a change from what we are used to hearing from the singer, but here at SBHQ we are definitely not complaining.
