Another day, another glitchy, sample-obsessed, R&B-loving producer? Not quite. Giraffage (aka Charlie Yin) certainly fits those descriptions, however he stands apart from a lot of his peers based on the fact that his tracks actually sound like fully-fledged songs, albeit ones that follow the current minimalistic trends. The San Franciscan has been making music for a few years now, and has a handful of tracks, remixes and EPs under his belt. His latest release, Needs, adheres to his R&B/pop-based sample approach, giving rise to a nine-track EP that should please fans of current favorites AlunaGeorge and Disclosure while also making him a name for himself. The entire EP is worthy of several spins, but if I had to pick a favorite it would have to be "All That Matters," with its throbbing bass, skittering drums, shiny synths and a brilliantly utilized, pitched-down sample of Ready For The World's "Love You Down."
