Menahan Street Band Will 'Keep' You 'Coming Back' For More

If Daptone Records is anything, it's consistent. They don't put out any mess, and Menahan Street Band is no exception. The band released their second album, The Crossing, in October thanks to a nice royalty check received after Jay-Z sampled the title track of Make The Road By Walking for his 2007 hit, "Roc Boys (And the Winner Is...)." They recently released a video for "Keep Coming Back," the latest single from the album. Even though not a single word is uttered during the nearly three-and-a-half minute journey through Gleason's Gym in DUMBO and Crown Victoria Bar in Williamsburg, the cinematic visual inspired by the 1984 film, The Pope of Greenwich Village, tells a story just the same. Label mates Charles Bradley and Jared Tankel of The Budos Band make appearances, but I hardly noticed as I sunk deeper and deeper into the band's seductive groove. Press play, and I guarantee that you, too, will enjoy the ride.
