If there is anyone who I can blindly trust with a refix it is MNEK. Full confidence I have, especially after being completely charmed with his covers from the varying likes of Kelis, Kylie Minogue and Sade. Now he continues to uphold my statement as he takes Disclosure and AlunaGeorge to refixing task and boldly shines on his re-imaging of their joint, the great "White Noise." At first, I didn't even need to press play, I already had this post prematurely packed with glowing accolades, but I had put my "overzealous music writer" persona in check and give an honest listen to all four minutes and twelve seconds of the track to make a balanced review. Well, an assured smile formed on my face as I was rewarded with a slick house number that puts into full focus the rich and sublime vocal stylings of MNEK. His choice to opt out of the spirited funk of the original was a risky one, but adopting this nice meditating chill-out vibe instead marks why MNEK is still one producer to watch out for, as his risk-taking is one to be admired.
