Feel 'Free' To Love Jayanti Covering Deniece Williams

As cover songs tend to go, you love some, you hate some. Jayanti's cover of Deniece Williams' "Free" is definitely one to add to your "love it" list. Though normally I'd be hesitant that anyone dared touch a classic as beautiful and revered as this one, within the opening seconds, I felt confident that Jayanti would do it justice. Her crystal clear soprano effortlessly matches Wililams', while the acoustic guitar doesn't overshadow her delicate vocals. We first introduced you to the Dutch songstress last year when her renditions of other classics such as Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" and Minnie Riperton's "Inside My Love" caught our ears. Since then, she's been keeping fans intrigued by tackling other hits like strong>Groove Theory's "Tell Me" and Whitney Houston's "One Moment In Time" on her YouTube page. While she proves she's more than capable of paying homage to others, I'm more than ready to hear her voice on her own music. Hopefully we won't have to wait much longer.
