MeLo-X Has That 'GOD MAGIC'

MeLo-X is a man of many talents with as many projects to correspond to all of his gifts. He's already blessed us with a plethora of remixes and original productions, released collaborative projects with Jesse Boykins III (Zulu Guru) and Cheri Coke (X/COKE) and will soon drop GOD:LoFi, a new EP where he'll flex his emcee skills. The first single from that forthcoming project is "GOD MAGIC," and MeLo may start off whistling but he soon puts in lyrical work as he reminisces about his life's journey and how far he's come. X keeps it mellow, humble and real and doesn't resort to typical rapper braggadocio, which I can appreciate. The man raps about everything from almost drowning as a child, to paying taxes and students loans, to people dancing to his songs at weddings and owning his masters. Not to mention that the "God" is pretty nice on the mic. GOD:LoFi is already sounding like something that'll be worth checking out when it's released. In the interim, cop the freebie from SoundCloud.
