One of the releases I'm looking forward to most this year is Tawiah's FREEdom Drop. Due April 30th, the release has been billed as a mixtape, an album, a freEP -- but, whatever it is, it's new material and I am beyond excited. The first single to surface, the gorgeous "TEARdrop," has been on repeat since its release and now we have another taster to tide us over until release day. The video below shows Tawiah recording a live rendition of "Open Your Eyes," a cover of the Bobby Caldwell song famously sampled by Common for "The Light." Tawiah's take, which will appear on FREEdom Drop, is beautifully simple in its execution and shows off her crystal clear voice wonderfully. I cannot wait to see what other goodness she has in store for us.
