Janelle Monáe & The Roots Take 'Wing' On 'Jimmy Fallon'

When news of Janelle Monáe's appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night broke, we here at SBHQ began wondering what exactly Ms. Monáe would be performing. A flashback to some tracks from The ArchAndroid? A preview of material from her upcoming album The Electric Lady? Turns out, it was nothing of the sort. Instead, Janelle and her guitarist Kellindo Parker -- with a little help from The Roots, of course -- paid tribute to rock god Jimi Hendrix with a cover of "Little Wing." Looking and sounding flawless, Janelle gave a spot on rendition. And when Kellindo takes over with his guitar solo, it sends the whole thing sailing beyond the rafters. The performance was in support of Jimi's latest posthumous collection, People, Hell and Angels, which was released early last month. Peep Janelle doing her thing below.
