As well as being one half of celebrated British soul/funk duo Smoove & Turrell, vocalist John Turrell has been in demand as a collaborator, featuring on tracks from Dr. Rubberfunk, Kraak & Smaak and Dilouya amongst others. 2013 will see the gruff-voiced Geordie step out on his own and release his debut solo album, The Kingmaker, which is preceded by the project's lead single, "Wrong Time." The original version of the track rides over driving percussion, guitar and Hammond, with John sounding his usual, supremely-soulful self, but it's Wrongtom's "Right Time Remix," with its added reggae bounce, which takes things up that extra notch. Take a listen to the remix, and peep the original version after the bounce. That should tide you over until The Kingmaker hits shelves this July.
