Ice Cube Was All 'Good' On 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon'

Last night after running the streets and watching the Miami Heat pull a win outta their hats in OT against the San Antonio Spurs in Game 6 of the NBA Finals, I made it home in time to catch Ice Cube on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Backed by The Roots, Cube dug in his crates and performed a classic for the studio audience and those of us watching at home. The Isley Brothers' sampling "It Was A Good Day" was the track on tap, and Cube and The Roots didn't miss a beat performing the 20+-year-old song. I've always had a fond place in my heart for this track because he name-checked a young woman with stamina (ahem) who shares my first name. Much to my chagrin, he changed the lyric last night, but I'm sure that it makes for a happier home with said woman who's been his wife of 21 years. Questlove and Jimmy Fallon got shout outs, however, and it was just good to see this hip-hop veteran still do his thing and do it well. Ice Cube is currently on tour with LL Cool J, De La Soul and Public Enemy, and we'll be seeing more of him in the time leading up to his next album, Everythang's Corrupt, in early 2014.
