Janelle Monáe Invites You To Partake In Her 'Dance'

Fresh off shutting the stage down with her performance of "Q.U.E.E.N." at BET Awards '13, Janelle Monáe is showing no signs of stopping her reign. She just released her new track "Dance Apocalyptic" last week and now we have the song's visuals. Taking a cue from Andre 3000's "Hey Ya," the clip finds Janelle rocking '60s style for an imagined variety show. Don't expect the CoverGirl to be all tux-and-pompadoured up, however, as she sheds her normal look for long, wild, crinkly hair, a short, white fur coat and tight white pants. Check Janelle branching out! "Dance Apocalyptic" will be a part of larger "emotion picture" set in an alternate version of modern day America. While it's a bit shocking to see Janelle outside of her android uniform, it's a welcome change that has us wondering what other changes we can expect when the rest of the short film is released. Until then, peep the clip below and count down the days until Ms. Monáe's The Electric Lady is released on September 10th.
