Thus far, 2013 has given us some real gems as far as albums are concerned, and we still have many more to come as we make our way into the second half of the year. One that we are particularly excited to wrap our ears around is Sandra St. Victor's Shanachie debut, Oya's Daughter, which is being produced by none other than Mark de Clive-Lowe. Given that MdCL delivers time after time, whether producing for himself or others (see Sy Smith's Fast and Curious), and Sandra possesses one of the few truly unique voices in soul music then, on paper at least, the album should be a winner. We loved the uplifting "I Prefer," and now "Presence" has surfaced and it's even better than we imagined, as Sandra delivers a heart-wrenching ballad dealing with that yearning for a certain someone. Oya's Daughter drops September 24th so mark your calendars now.
