Someone Save Willow Smith From 'Drowning'

No one in the world has as many problems as Willow Smith. Her life is tragic, ergo her music must follow suit. Many levels of sarcasm aside, the child celebrity must be going through something to deliver a song such as "Drowning," the latest from the petite talent. On "Drowning," young Willow guides us through the story of a brokenhearted girl figuratively being drowned by her lover. It's very morose, but does not seem to come from a place of experience or catharsis -- at least I hope not seeing as she is only 12, but stranger things have happened in Hollyweird. In some ways, I can see this song working for a grown woman whose fans appreciate emo sounds, but from Willow Smith, it comes off very flat and grandiose. I hope that she is working through whatever she needs to work through and comes out on the other side because no one writes songs like "Drowning" for fun.
