Tambay Obenson over at Shadow and Act posted this four-minute preview of the upcoming motion picture Sexual Healing, detailing the making of soul singer extraordinaire Marvin Gaye's final album Midnight Love. Here are a few thoughts that ran through my mind upon watching this clip in its entirety:
After the bounce
1. Jesse L. Martin looks exactly like Marvin! The similarity is uncanny. He's the perfect pick for the role.
2. I'm afraid. Very afraid. For some reason I don't know much about Marvin Gaye's personal life from this era -- he's crystallized in my mind as the squeaky clean turtleneck dude who duetted with Tammi Terrell. From the looks of this clip we will be getting some intense entertainment realness and messy teas from Marvin's life. Who knew he was living so grimy? I crave to know more. But I'm scurred about what I might find out.
3. How did his son end up like this? Maybe this film will give me answers. Something. Anything.
I am curious to see how this all pans out; it looks to be interesting to say the least.
