Patti LaBelle & Misty Copeland Honor A 'Friend' At 'Black Girls Rock!'

Not only were Misty Copeland and Patti LaBelle two of the honorees at this year's Black Girls Rock! awards show, but the ballerina and soul diva also shared the stage for a few fleeting moments. Misty appeared first accompanied by a solo violinist who provided the classical soundtrack for her dance. Once she twirled across the stage, the band started playing and the curtain was lifted to reveal Patti in all her splendor. LaBelle was truly in her element as she began belting out one of her signature songs, "You Are My Friend," to those in attendance and as a tribute to her friend, publicist Patti Webster who passed away in September. It was a very touching performance that had Patti wading in the water of her feelings and those watching feeling a little verklempt as well. At 69 years young, Miss Patti has perfected the art of moving the crowd and making us feel every emotion as she sings.
