Alice Smith SHE [Review][Amazon][iTunes]

For seven years the absence of Alice Smith was felt and after a series of teasing with appearances and follow-up album rumors, Smith made 2013 the year where she roared back with a definite response. Smith showcased her eclecticism, songwriting bite and that peerless growling alto on her 2007 debut For Lovers Dreamers and Me, and on SHE the intensity of these conjoined factors was heightened. Smith provided an exciting journey through the joys and pains of womanhood and romance as she sweetly serenaded on "Be Easy," became her own '60s girl group on "Shot" and snatched "Fool For You" from under the feet of CeeLo and Melanie Fiona. The topper was the close-out track where she made Tina Turner proud on the femme rock fueled title track, and solidified the fact that she is not one to be tamed nor ignored. -- AudioDiva
