Rosie Lowe's Debut EP Is 'Right' On The Money

There have been a ridiculous number of British newcomers that have emerged in 2013, and most are showing real promise, going from strength to strength with each single release. We will see who is the real deal and who, if anyone, can't keep up once 2014 rolls around and each gets a chance to release a full album's worth of material. One I am particularly looking forward to hearing is Rosie Lowe's who, on the strength of her Right Thing EP, is set to make some rather big waves next year. Teaming up with kwes and Dave Okumu has already given the London-based songstress a leg-up and her James Blake-meets-Banks style puts her right at the forefront of the burgeoning alternative R&B scene. We have already heard the haunting "Me & Your Ghost" and the emotionally wrenching "Right Thing," but now the whole EP has dropped and we are treated to the disjointed glitchiness of "Games" and my personal favorite "10k Balloons," which rather surprisingly has a bit of a Laura Mvula-vibe on the vocal front. All in all Right Thing is a solid release from one of the more exciting talents to emerge this year, and I for one can't wait to see what 2014 has in store her.
