'Trust' That 1-O.A.K.'s Version Of This Herbie Hancock Classic Is Good

The thing about the holiday season is that it's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle and have a few things slip past you. That's the only explanation I can come up with about how we let this gem slip past us. A couple weeks ago, singer-producer 1-O.A.K. paid tribute to the legendary Herbie Hancock with his version of Hancock's 1979 classic "Trust Me." The song, which has been sampled by the likes of Jesse Boykins III and Coultrain most recently, sticks fairly close to Hancock's original melody, while adding a contemporary edge to it courtesy of some well-placed drums. The result is a fuller, hip hop-tinged vibe that serves as a worthy homage to Hancock's legacy.
