Stopping by BBC 1Xtra’s Live Lounge, Elli previewed her new single “When It Was Dark,” which merges her love of soul and jazz and gives a clear nod to one of her idols, Amy Winehouse. Accompanied by acoustic guitar, saxophone and subdued drums, Elli’s smoky vocal sounds better than we have ever heard it before.
