By the time Janet Jackson performed at the 29th Annual GRAMMY Awards in 1987, her breakout album Control was a certified smash, and she was no longer just “Michael’s little sister.” She was, however, GRAMMY nominated, with Control up for four awards. Of the four awards, only one was won, with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis winning Producer of the Year. Keytars in hand, the dynamic duo joined Janet on stage for a performance of “What Have You Done For Me Lately” with a little “Nasty” breakdown added on at the end. The performance was quintessential Janet from this era -- dressed in black from head to toe, rocking big wavy hair and dancing to her always on-point choreography.
