This is a great day in SoulBounce's history as we celebrate our rebuilt website and today's relaunch. The site has a new look, a new attitude and a new feel, but we're still bringing you the same strong coverage of the best (and sometimes the worst) in past, present and future soul. We're calling this upgrade SoulBounce Remixed, and we couldn't let this joyous occasion pass without gathering together some actual remixes. We reached out to some of our producer and DJ friends, and over the next few days we'll share their remixes done in our honor.
Up first is our good friend Brandon Williams who took some time out from welcoming his first child into the world and working on his debut album, XII, to hook us up. And hook us up he did with a remix of a track from one of our SoulBounce faves and two-time Woman of the Year, Janelle Monáe. B. Williams took on the challenge of the footloose and fancy free "Tightrope" and transformed it into a slowed down groove sure to cause spontaneous body rolls. The tempo change is an unexpected one, but Williams works it out with some soulful guitar work carrying the song and taking center stage throughout. Big Boi's rap even seems to fit better into the laid-back yet funky flow of this remix. B. Williams never ceases to amaze, and with this new life that he's breathed into "Tightrope," he's done it again.
