We Don't 'Mind' What Le Youth Does With Sam Smith's 'Money'

Though his introduction to us via Disclosure's "Latch" left us enamored with him from the jump, we can't say that we were entirely in love with Sam Smith's single "Money on My Mind." The production and lyrics left a bit to be desired and, to paraphrase SB's own Soul UK, the high-pitched squeal on the hook was "possibly one of the most annoying things" put on wax last year. Thankfully, producer Le Youth has stepped in to save the day. Spicing things up with some synths, piano and thumping kick drums, Le Youth refashions the track into something a bit more dance floor worthy. And his treatment even tempers the squeal of the hook, making it a feature and not a burden. Le Youth makes the song quite listenable and actually a bit refreshing, and for that we have to take our hats off to him. If you didn't love the original (or even if you did), this version's sure to make you take a second listen.
