SoulBounce fave Jesse Boykins III is set to release a new album soon, and he has released his new single and video for our aural and visual enjoyment. “Plain” is lifted from his long-awaited studio album Love Apparatus. He hasn’t released a solo project since his 2011 EP Way of a Wayfarer, so this is great news. Boykins, with his eclectic style and signature afro, is far from plain and so is this track. Produced by frequent collaborator Machinedrum, who also lends his talents to Love Apparatus, “Plain” is a catchy, melodic tune that features Boykins' airy vocals. Mixing soul and trance elements, the song is definitely worthy of some slick break dancing and energetic two-stepping. To show you how it’s done, Boykins also released a lyrical dance video shot in Brooklyn, New York by Harrison Boyce. While we anticipate Love Apparatus, due out on April 22nd, stop being plain and dance the rest of your day away with Boykins and his new single.
