While we all impatiently await the break of spring, Brik Liam has drummed up the perfect little diddy to sing the blues away in the form of his new song “Shine.” Originally introduced as Jacoby, this young Houston soul star has donned a new stage name and offered us all a tour of his world of creativity with his new EP entitled Mr. Liam’s Neighborhood. For “Shine,” one of the brightest moments on this stellar collection of songs, Brik teams up with Jairus Mozee to bring forth a jazz-driven groove that will easily usher you out of any rut or help you push through a rough day. Similar to classic feel-good records like Roy Ayers’ “Everybody Loves the Sunshine,” this song seems to have happy feelings perfectly blended in between each note and lyric. “I need the sun to shine right down on me/Make me warm from my head to my feet and set me free,” Brik sings. Mr. Liam’s Neighborhood, which also includes the Alex Isley-sampled “Up” and “A Hoarder’s Prayer,” is now available for your free downloading pleasures via Noise Trade.
