I don't know about y'all but I'm a wee bit tired of Pharrell Williams' "Happy." The song hits me from all sides most days and now that my parents have discovered it -- it's playing (or, in my Dad's case, being sung) all the time in my house. Lovely. See that's what I get for being a "good daughter" and teaching the elders about the current state of affairs in music and setting up their iPods for them. Some days I'm just not that "happy" to be bouncing around to it, you know what I'm saying?
While I appreciate Pharrell trying to get his single "Marilyn Monroe" off and running, I'd really wish some more love was shown to his Justin Timberlake collaboration, "Brand New," which next to "Gust of Wind" were the most exciting songs on the G I R L project to me. Slinger feels the excitement of the glossy pop-funk tune too and cranks it up to the tenth power by concocting a killer remix that takes the track into brassier and funkier places. We often say less is best, but in this case more is merrier. So if you'd like to drown out "Happy" for a spell, go on ahead, snatch the free download and crank this one up.
