Track 14: “Heavenly (No Ways Tired / Can't Give Up Now)”

D-Money: So she finally decided to drop all pretense and just do a gospel track, huh?

Butta: She’s been wanting to sing gospel for half this album, so whoot here it is.

D-Money: I’m not mad at the attempt. But “Fly Like a Bird” this isn’t.

Butta: At all. But why did I totally listen to the sermon intro and think this was gonna break out into a stomping house track like Disclosure’s “When A Fire Starts To Burn”? Now that would have been hot.

D-Money: I would’ve loved that, especially since the sequencing got a little ballad heavy toward the end of the album.

Butta: My go-to version of “Can’t Give Up Now” is by Mary Mary and this pales in comparison, especially with the unnecessary hip-hop flavor added in an effort to be hip.

I give Mimi an A for effort, but a B- for execution. It doesn’t really get good until the live vocals are incorporated at the end.

D-Money: And I’d tuned out long before then. I understand wanting to end the regular version on an inspirational note, but this was another trip to Snoozevile.
