Mariah Carey’s album, Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse, has been steadily dropping singles and finding tracks leaked to the Internet. Even if the rollout has been a bit haphazard and prolonged, the project — which officially comes out on Tuesday, May 27th — seems to be finding its footing with the hip-hop-infused “Thirsty” and the Wale-assisted “You Don’t Know What to Do.”

Add to that mix the Q-Tip-produced “Meteorite (Q-Tip Remix),” a bass-filled throwback composed of groovy handclaps, grimy funk and angelic keys. A beat or two enhances the album version, also blessed by Q-Tip but possessing more pop appeal. Still, the edge prevalent on this remix makes it a must-play at any lounge or grown-and-sexy gathering, as the nostalgic vibe induced by the track is one that feels good but also manages to be fresh and contemporary. There’s also plenty of metaphorical references to be found in comparing a meteorite to having superstar status.

So far, “Meteorite” has been one of the most likable track that from Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse, and the one that might encourage a same-day purchase upon its release.
