Vestalus Has His Way With D'Angelo's 'Spanish Joint'

D'Angelo On Stage In Long Black Shirt

While talk of new music from D’Angelo has been hushed by the lack of anything being actually released, producers and DJs are keeping his legacy alive with their sporadic remixes and we’re certainly grateful for it. For some reason we have seen and heard a new focus on his deep album cut “Spanish Joint,” and this week the record gets yet another twist with the help of London musician Vestalus. Adding a laid-back house flare, Vestalus revives the Voodoo track in a way that’s totally different from what we’ve heard before from the likes of Osage and Kero One in the past few months. Playing off of the resurgence of both D’Angelo and house music will definitely garner a major win and Vestalus proves that with this extra special gem. Once again, lucky for us all, this fresh take on D’Angelo’s “Spanish Joint” is available on SoundCloud for your free downloading pleasures. If you’re lucky enough to have grabbed a ticket, you can check out D’Angelo next week as he sits down with the Red Bull Music Academy for a fireside chat on Wednesday, May 21st at the Brookyln Museum.
