Jessie Ware is back! Not that she ever fell back, with a lengthy concert tour and guest appearances on tracks by Julio Bashmore ("Peppermint") and SBTRKT ("Runaway") surfacing over the past year, but the time is now here for new solo material to drop from this certified SoulBounce fave. Our 2012 Woman of the Year does not disappoint and comes correct with the new single "Tough Love," the exquisite first listen from her upcoming sophomore album.
Jessie's upper register soars on the purple-tinged BenZel (aka Two-Inch Punch and Benny Blanco) production that sounds like Ware is riding shotgun in Prince's "Little Red Corvette." Her voice is pillow soft as she coos and calls out a lover for breaking her heart in "a million different pieces," hence the need for some "Tough Love." This song premiered on Zane Lowe's Hottest Record in the World today, and we'd most certainly have to agree that that's what this track is. We are here for this new Jessie Ware, and cannot wait for the follow-up to Devotion, which will be produced entirely by BenZel, if this song and their previous work together on "If You Love Me" is any indication.
