Make Yourself At Home In Jody Watley's 'Sanctuary' With This Soulpersona Remix

Jody Watley

Miss Jody Watley -- ever the epitome of sophistication in the soulful dance scene -- has us feigning for her forthcoming Paradise EP. “Nightlife,” an early tease of the project, got a disco-fied retouch courtesy of SoulBounce fave Soulpersona and the two have collaborated once again for the “Sanctuary (Soulpersona Raregrooves Remix).”

The lush track is a silky smooth invitation to the dance floor, even if the lyrical content is about staying at home. But with a foundation built on smooth house and funk, the melodic tune gets a splash of handclaps, cymbals and other acoustics that make it lightly pulsate and urge everyone to chill and relax. It’s lounge sexy and sing-along ready, as the vocals and the music blend together to create and ambiance of comfort.

Now, the music itself could have very easily been co-opted for more salacious subject matter, but in Soulpersona’s hands, “Sanctuary” touches the soul and further intrigues Jody’s next body of work.
