Lately it seems as if you can't turn on your television without seeing a Pharrell Williams live performance. The man and his collection of hats are damn near everywhere. There's no stopping the runaway train that is his career right now with the success of the feel-good anthem "Happy" and his new album G I R L. Pharrell is making the most of his moment in the spotlight again, and although we may be rapidly approaching our Pharrell overload limit, we really can't be mad.
After rocking the Apollo Theatre on Tuesday night for his American Express UNSTAGED concert, Pharrell took to the TV airwaves this morning to perform on the TODAY Toyota Summer Concert Series live from Rockefeller Plaza. Mother Nature decided that she didn't want Pharrell and his bevy of Baes to have all the fun, so she opened up the skies and let loose a rainstorm. That didn't stop the outdoor concert from going on as planned, although everyone in attendance and on stage were very soggy by the time it was all over. Pharrell made the most of the extreme weather conditions and performed three songs for TODAY, "Come Get It Bae," "Happy" and "Marilyn Monroe," in addition to chatting it up with hosts Savannah Guthrie and Matt Lauer.
