Bounce-Worthy: Malia

I've been craving to hear music from a new artist whose music will put me in a relaxing mood. Good acoustic soul and artists such as India.Arie, Corinne Bailey Rae and Amel Larrieux are my usual go-to artists when I need to vibe out and float away. Now I have a new name to add into the mix with Los Angeles-based songstress Malia.

As soon as I pressed play on Malia's self-titled debut EP and heard the first chords of her guitar on the sultry opening track "Satisfaction," I knew I would be more than satisfied. Co-signed by The Internet, who also serves as an executive producer of the EP, Malia's music and style is refreshingly authentic as she bares her soul on songs about growth, happiness and love. I especially love her light and breezy track "Sunny Day," which you can definitely hear The Internet's influence on. Amidst oversaturated and overproduced digital music, it is always a great pleasure to hear stripped-down vocals and a simple guitar. Although the EP only has four tracks, it is a great introduction to this refreshing talent. Get to know Malia via Malia below, and as a bonus, watch her perform "Sunny Day" live from her living room.
