By now we're used to the rhythmic mood stirs of Moko with such standouts like "Your Love" and "With You," both culled from her recently released and already impressively collected Gold EP. Yet it needs to be stated that the UK-bred chanteuse can tackle a ballad like nobody's biz as she prove she's more than just a revive of the house/dance genre on Gold's down-tempo stunner "Missing Love." It's a minimalist ballad that features piano and the quiet strums of a guitar in its beginning stages, but if you didn't think Moko was a big deal as a vocalist, then your thought process is completely altered as she laments on this beautifully, letting her rich tone rumble like impending thunder, and not over-indulging or over-singing any portion of the song. It's emotional gospel without all the extra baggage, and it works.
Moko and her lovely puffy braids recently sat down behind the keys to perform "Missing Love" for Vevo's DSCVR series, and well, if you thought the audio version was spellbinding, then prepare for more hairs to stand on end when you take in the live acoustic performance as Moko just kills all your faves softly. The Gold EP is available now on iTunes.
