Taylor McFerrin
THEN: Though he's the son of legend Bobby McFerrin, Taylor McFerrin's debut EP Broken Vibes had everyone talking about his talent with no comparisons to his famous father. His approach to the nu jazz/broken beat scene infused a much needed bit of heart soul into the glitchy, stuttering sound of the genre and had us clamoring to press repeat back in 2008, making him without a doubt a perfect inductee into our Bounce-Worthy group.
NOW: There was a bit of a lull between projects for Taylor, but that doesn't mean he didn't keep busy in the interim. He spread his talents around, remixing songs and collaborating with friends like José James. He finally gave the people what they wanted this year, releasing his debut LP, Early Riser, this summer. Featuring trippy, genre-bending music and collaborations with the likes of Nai Palm, Emily King, Robert Glasper, Thundercat and, of course, dear old dad, it's easily one of the best albums of 2014.
