Hiatus Kaiyote
THEN: Hiatus Kaiyote brought the quiet thunder from Down Under in 2012, and we've been under their spell ever since. Their unique blend of genres provide a bridge between the heartfelt soul of yesteryear and the futuristic electronic sound of tomorrow. After hearing their debut, Tawk Tomahawk, we added them to our Bounce-Worthy collective.
NOW: Hiatus Kaiyote's profile has only risen since 2012. The group re-released Tawk Tomahawk in 2013 via Sony Music's Flying Buddha imprint and even landed legendary rapper Q-Tip on the rework of their breakout song, "Nakamarra." They also gained fans among a who's who of music's elite, including Questlove, Erykah Badu and, oh yeah, the GRAMMY voters, who nominated the Australian group in the Best R&B Performance category at this year's ceremony. The group's lead vocalist Nai Palm has also seen her stock rise, venturing out on her own to be featured on tracks by Taylor McFerrin and The Putbacks.
