DJ/producer Chris Read has made a name for himself as a purveyor of “music of substance.” The London native has put his creative spin on everything from Latin Jazz to 1990s hip hop. Having recently released a commissioned tribute to The Notorious B.I.G., I must admit that I was slightly surprised by his latest choice of song.
It’s been a year since we first fell in love with Algebra Blessett’s comeback single, “Nobody But You,” but we haven’t forgotten how the R&B groove hit all the right notes and whet our appetites for her amazing 2014 sophomore album, Recovery. She certainly belongs in the “music of substance” category, so it’s no wonder that Mr. Read was inspired to remix the song, dubbing his take on the track as the "All Night Remix."
For this particular remix, he kept Algebra’s sweet and soulful vocals fully intact. The difference comes in the instrumentation, replacing the peppy piano loop with laid-back synth and futuristic sound effects that give the song a head-nodding infusion of chill.
