Claudette Ortiz Refuses To 'Settle' Any Longer

Claudette Ortiz In White Blazer With Big Hair

Thanks to TV One’s hit reality series R&B Divas: Los Angeles, former City High songtress Claudette Ortiz has returned to the spotlight, and we’re falling back in love with her as if she never left. Unfortunately, she’s been rather quiet musically and has barely released any solo material although many of her scenes on both seasons of the show focus on her spending time in the studio. Well it looks like she’s ready to break out of her shell, and it’s about time.

At the start of the summer she gave us the Jerry Wonda-produced banger “Automatic,” and now she’s continuing her sporadic string of releases with another new jam named “Settle.” This record has quite an edge to it, as Ms. Ortiz sings about how much of a gamble love really is. “It ain’t for beginners / It’s only for the ones who stick around to find out,” she sings. She’s making it plain here that she doesn’t mind working to build a relationship, but she’s no longer up for wasting her time. I think we all can relate to such a sentiment. Here’s to hoping that she keeps up the momentum and graces us with an album sooner than later.
