Last we saw Sharaya J, the Missy Elliott protégé was smashing up the place and snatching wigs with her nimble raps and intricate dance moves. It seems that she's still up to her old tricks this go around, but now she's telling a lover how it is with her latest dual video for her songs "Takin' It No More" and "Shut It Down."
For the "Takin' It No More" half of the video, Sharaya is speaking for the ladies with no good men as she tells trifling fellas off over a sample of Missy's own hit "Take Away" beefed up with crowd chants and drums reminiscent of Baltimore club. For the second part of the video, Sharaya shuts it down in black and white for the hard hitting "Shut It Down." Because this is Sharaya J, each half features intricate dance moves from Sharaya and her crew of BANJI girls to accompany the blue-haired rapper's nimble flows.
The visual, like all of Sharaya's previous efforts, brings some of the fun back into hip hop and music videos in general, something that probably hasn't been seen since Missy herself was bringing her creative visions to the masses. Speaking of Missy, this video marks the star's directorial debut (alongside Lisa Cunningham and Stephen Pitts).
