Breach & Kelis Unlock Decades Of Dance With 'The Key'

Those who figured Kelis had given up on her dance diva ways when she issued the southern fried funk of FOOD might find themselves surprised (or disappointed, depending on how much you loved or despised 2010's Flesh Tone) to know she's back to drenching herself in strobe lighted allure. Now before you roll your eyes and click the 'x' button on this post, stay a little while and take note that her recent hook-up with UK spinner Breach has her all decked out in house style -- and its a bit more stylish if I say so myself. Kelis' smoked butter tone was always prime to be used in variant ways, and Breach (aka Ben Westbeech) utilizes Kelis in the best way possible on the rum punched "The Key" as he lets it glide over glassy and spangled beats. "The Key" marks the twosome's second go-around as they worked previously on the remix to Kelis' "Rumble" earlier this year.

The visual for "The Key" takes us through several decades of dance and style as various couples move and groove in their own private spotlight, decked out in a '90s rave kind of way all while gyrating on a sound stage that looks parts 1970s Soul Train and parts 1960s Hullabaloo. Kelis oversees all of this, as she just sits around in Dolly Parton's 9 To 5 wig, looking regal and all disco dolled up, pretty much daring you to try something with her come-hither stare and pink feathered boa. With so many of soul music's leading ladies attempting to go the house route as of recent, it's no wonder why Kelis wouldn't want in on the fun.
