James Tillman Shangri La EP [Amazon][iTunes][Google Play]
Maryland native James Tillman swooped down this year and wooed us with his velvety voice and the comforting sound of his Shangri La EP. Recorded in Sao Paulo, Brazil, this short batch of simple and sweet songs took us on a journey to a place that we didn’t even know that we needed to go. Tillman blended his warm voice, beautiful instrumentation and romantic lyricism with R&B and bossa nova sounds in the most magical way possible. Chivalry is not dead and neither is R&B. With songs like “Love Within” and “And Then,” Tillman provided the best evidence of that that we’ve seen in quite some time. -- Rob
