If you've been paying attention to BBC Radio 1's recent residencies, then you might've noticed that Flying Lotus has been dropping heat during his slot. During this week's go, he dropped something a little hotter than usual: an unreleased collaboration with rapper of the moment Kendrick Lamar.

As you know, this isn't the first time that FlyLo and Kendrick have teamed up. Kendrick contributed his nimble flow to "Never Catch Me," the lead single from FlyLo's most recent album You're Dead. FlyLo also returned the favor by contributing "Wesley's Theory" to Kendrick's critically acclaimed To Pimp A Butterfly. Coming in at just over a minute, their collaboration "Eyes Above" is more a continuation of the themes of "Never Catch Me." FlyLo's playful flirtation with jazz is seen in the production, with electronic hand claps providing the rhythm as chords float and cymbals crash throughout the track. Meanwhile, Kendrick is in beast mode as he delivers a fiery verse that never let's up until the very end, with Kendrick repeating, "Buffalo soldiers at war / You shot fast but that ain't the final score."

For a track that's only a minute long (as far as we know), it most definitely has us wanting more. And if you want to hear FlyLo drop more gems, then we suggest you start paying attention to his BBC Radio 1 residency not now, but right now.
