Jhené Aiko gets loose on “Living Room Flow”

After the release of her debut album, we weren’t expecting any new music from Jhené Aiko anytime soon. However, the GRAMMY nominee surprised us with a new track that was a bit of a departure from her alternative R&B sound, a soft, silky, sexy R&B song called “Living Room Flow.” It’s a new side of Jhené, or at least one she hasn’t shown us before (unless you count that line about eating booty like groceries from that unfortunate Omarion song), as she unleashes the freak with no strings attached. Over a sparse, laid-back groove, Aiko sings, “I don’t have to stay ‘til morning / I don’t have to pack no clothes / I am really not that lonely / if we finished, then we finished, and I can go.” While the lyrics are a departure from Jhené’s usual artsy wordplay, they are no less engaging, nor do they feel any less authentic to the artist. -- Ken Hamm
