Back in 2005, a group of Atlanta-area DJs banned together to launch House in the Park, an annual event that celebrates the best in house music. Over the years, the party grew to include an attendance of over 10,000 each year. After realizing that many of the attendees were traveling from out of town to the attend the Labor Day weekend event, the organizers decided to expand the one-day celebration to a full-weekend of great music and four years ago, the Annual Atlanta Weekender Festival was born.
Slated to take place the weekend of September 3rd-6th in the city's historic Old 4th Ward Neighborhood, this year's celebration promises to be even bigger than before. Curated by DJs Salah Ananse, DJ Kemit, Kai Alce and Ramon Rawsoul, the festival grew to include over 40 participating DJs last year after starting out with only 12 the first year of inception. And though the guests won't be announced until July, the list of past attendees, such as Bobbito, Carlos Mena, Gwen Bunn, Khari Cabral, Chantae Cann, Ron Trent, Ian Friday, Moodymann and more, provides a glimpse of the smoking hot sounds attendees can expect this year.
