With her recent surprise annnouncements, it's safe to say that we've all got Janet Jackson on our brains. Who are we kidding, she's on our minds everyday. Soulection crew member Zikomo comes with another reason to keep Ms. Jackson on our minds with a smoking hot remix of her 1997 classic "Got 'Til It's Gone."

If you'll recall, the original was the smoothed-out introduction to Janet's very personal album The Velvet Rope and ushered in a new era for the singer, complete with bright red hair and a fascinating music video that artfully captured life during apartheid-era South Africa. The remix retains a lot of the song's original feel while adding a bit of extra bass thump and a stuttering four-on-the-floor rhythm to keep things moving. Zikomo also decided to take away the verse here, instead keeping the Joni Mitchell-sampling chorus and Q-Tip's now iconic "Why you wanna go and do that?" But, just when we think we've got the remix figured out, Zikomo throws us some jazz with a Rhodes reinterpretation of the song accompanied with warm bass and drums to finish it all off.

It's without a doubt a creative take on the track and one that will keep us listening to it alongside Janet's original. Give Zikomo's remix of "Got 'Til It's Gone" and spin below and check out his other refixes on his SoundCloud page. And, if the spirit moves you, help yourself to a free download, too.
