Dr. MaD Has 'Got' A Good Thing Going With This Janet Jackson Remix

Canadian producer Dr. M∆D has spent the last few years making a name for himself with his unique beats, compilations and remixes. Lately, he's been paying homage to some talented women with his FLY.L∆DIES mixtape series. Naturally, one the women featured in his very first installment (and in our opinion, the flyest of the fly) was Janet Jackson. Now with her comeback in full swing, he decided to show her some love once again with his version of her 1997 classic, "Got 'Til It's Gone."

Initially premiered by SoulBounce fave Kaytranada (who himself has been known to drop a Janet remix here and there) on his BBC Radio1 show, the song joins the ranks of other recent Janet flips that have made our summertime playlist.  This particular refix is loaded with disco-era funk, which may seem odd upon reading, but it totally works. With a smooth extended intro that's heavy on the chill vibes, Doc certainly takes his time getting there and we don't mind at all. Sorry Q-Tip, it's "Ladies Night" so the track only highlights the Joni Mitchell sample and Janet's vocals. Things really kick off at the halfway mark when fellow Canadian Oonga joins the party with a funky bass that can't be ignored.
