Fostering the gangsta rap movement that has not only influenced hip hop, but defined the genre for better or worse with a mixture of machismo, audio action movie antics, crass lyrics and a good bit of audacity, N.W.A is one of the most pivotal rap groups in history. They aren’t your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper, they are your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper’s inspiration. With a movie coming out chronicling their rise to fame, isn’t now a good time to come back out with an album?
Granted, the team isn’t what it used to be. Either pushing 50 or already over that hump, the group has largely moved on to success in other ventures, from headphones to movies to porn. With a biopic just around the corner, Dr. Dre releasing a new album inspired by his hometown of Compton and a tour with Eminem, there is a chance a new album may materialize. Besides, if Dre can get people to buy a pair of overpriced mediocre headphones, we're sure he can work some magic with genuine nostalgia to make this group shine once again.
